Blaufränkisch and Merlot together make a very strong red wine team. It gets even more exciting when a little Cabernet Sauvignon is involved - like with our Avantgarde from Lake Neusiedl, aged for 12 months in French barrique barrels. This important grape variety from Bordeaux brings a deep structure and a noticeably noble flair to the dark purple wine. As is to be expected with a plant of this rank, the scent is in a class of its own, complex, full of character, gripping: blueberries, black currants, black cherries, plus a noble oak tone, a little vanilla, everything well coordinated. The strong body, the well-integrated tannin and the fresh, still youthful, impulsive finish... this avant-garde from Lake Neusiedl fits and, on top of that, allows a beautiful aging potential to shine through.
